Mumbai, May 8, 2026 — In a landmark step towards modernising India’s postal infrastructure, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and Hon’ble Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated the newly renovated Andheri Railway Station (RS) Post Office as a Future‑Ready Service Hub under the flagship ‘Jan Sewa Connect’ Project.

About the Renovation
Originally established in 1932–33, the Andheri RS Post Office carries over nine decades of public service heritage. The renovation has been undertaken as part of India Post’s ambitious Jan Sewa Connect initiative, aimed at transforming traditional post offices into contemporary, customer‑centric, and technology‑enabled service hubs.
The project was executed in partnership with the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and features:
- Enhanced infrastructure and modern interiors.
- Improved customer facilities.
- Digital integration for efficient service delivery.
- Strengthened branding and visual identity.
This initiative reflects India Post’s commitment to bridging tradition with technology while preserving its legacy of public trust.

India Post: A Legacy Reinvented
With a legacy of over 170 years and a network of more than 1.5 lakh post offices, India Post continues to be a vital pillar of financial inclusion and digital public services across the country. The Department recorded a healthy 16% growth in Gross Postal Revenue in 2025–26, underscoring the strength and relevance of its ongoing transformation.
The renovated Andheri RS Post Office stands as a symbol of this evolution — from a colonial‑era institution to a modern, efficient, and citizen‑first service delivery centre.

Following the inauguration, dignitaries including Hon’ble Shri Ameet Satam, MLA, and Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra & Goa Circle, Shri Amitabh Singh, addressed a gathering of postal staff at the Andheri Sports Complex. The event was also graced by Hon’ble Shri Harun Khan, MLA, Shri Rupesh Savarkar, and Shri Acharya Pawan Tripathi.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis underlined the role of India Post as a carrier of human emotions and hailed its ability to provide services to the last person in society. Hon’ble Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia lauded the initiative as a significant step towards building modern, futuristic, and citizen‑centric postal infrastructure, presenting a powerful picture of a New India of change, innovation, and public trust under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

About Jan Sewa Connect
Jan Sewa Connect is India Post’s flagship infrastructure modernisation initiative designed to reimagine post offices as accessible, efficient, and digitally empowered community service hubs. The renovated Andheri RS Post Office is the second in India and the first in Maharashtra to be inaugurated under this project.
India Post has proposed to upgrade around 2,000 post offices across Maharashtra under Jan Sewa Connect, reinforcing its mission of inclusive growth and last‑mile connectivity.
