Mumbai, July 2026 — While the most striking feature of Max, Min & Meowzaki is the presence of a cat at the heart of its narrative, producer Samiksha Oswal has revealed that the film’s emotional story is deeply inspired by her own life with co-producer Shael Oswal.
Samiksha shared that her personal struggles with animal allergies and her eventual journey of embracing Shael’s beloved pets became the emotional foundation of the film. “This is our own story,” she explained. “I loved animals but suffered from allergies whenever I came into contact with them. Shael, on the other hand, is a passionate animal lover with over a hundred stray dogs at his farmhouse. His pets were so attached to him that they disliked me coming close. Winning their affection was an emotional struggle, but over time, I began to accept them as my own children.”
She added that when Shael suggested making a film with a cat as the central character, she realised how relationships often thrive on small, unnoticed compromises. “This became the inspiration for the film. It is not just our story, but one that resonates with many couples. Sadly, such stories are rarely told.”
A Film About Love, Loss, and Healing
Samiksha described the film as more than just a unique experiment with a feline protagonist. “It is a story about love, separation, healing, and the strength of family bonds. In today’s fast-paced world, people are busy finding flaws and chasing instant happiness, forgetting the value of relationships. This film asks audiences to pause, feel, and cherish those connections.”
She also recalled the challenges of shooting with a cat as the lead character: “No one had ever made a film with a cat in the central role. She would often run into the lights or sleep for long hours. The team had to wait patiently, which made the shoot longer than usual. But in the end, the film turned out exactly as we had envisioned.”
