DMI 2026 Begins in Mumbai, Showcasing Innovation and Growth in India’s Tooling Industry

Mumbai, April 21, 2026:
The (DMI 2026) commenced at the , marking the start of four days of innovation, collaboration, and industry engagement. Organised by the , the exhibition highlights advancements in die and mould technology while addressing opportunities and challenges within the tooling sector.
The four-day event has brought together leading toolmakers, technology providers, and user industries to showcase developments in CNC machining, automation, and additive manufacturing. It aims to strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to the broader ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by , Managing Director and CEO of , as Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included , Joint Managing Director of and President of the Aerospace India Association; ; and . and were also present, along with other dignitaries. The ceremonial lamp lighting marked the formal opening of the exhibition.
Welcoming attendees, Devaraya M. Sheregar said, “This year’s edition is our largest so far, with over 350 exhibitors across three halls and an expected footfall of more than 35,000 visitors. Die & Mould India is not just an exhibition but a platform where the entire ecosystem comes together to exchange ideas and build partnerships that shape the future of the industry.”
Highlighting industry momentum, he added that toolmakers have experienced strong business growth, improved order books, and increased investments in advanced technologies and automation. Indian toolmakers are expanding beyond domestic markets and strengthening exports, with a growing emphasis on skill development.
Focusing on workforce development, F. R. Singhvi emphasized that skill remains the foundation of sustainable growth. He noted that while salaries have increased over the years, retaining and nurturing skilled talent is critical. “We face a paradox where industries struggle to fulfil orders due to lack of skilled manpower, while many seek employment. Training and retaining talent is essential to long-term success,” he said.
Vinamra Mishra highlighted the significant contribution of MSMEs to India’s economy, noting their role in exports, manufacturing output, and employment generation. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between industry and government to strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem, supported by innovation and research-driven growth.
Hector U. Villanueva underscored the transformative impact of emerging technologies on manufacturing, stating that advancements in CNC systems, additive manufacturing, and integrated automation are enhancing productivity, precision, and sustainability. He commended TAGMA India for bringing together stakeholders across sectors including automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, and packaging.
Speaking on industry opportunities, Manoj Kolhatkar highlighted the strong growth of India’s automotive sector, noting record production levels and the expanding scale of the auto components industry. He pointed out that despite this progress, the tooling sector still relies significantly on imports, indicating substantial scope for growth and investment.
Concluding the ceremony, D. Shanmugasundaram delivered the vote of thanks and reflected on the industry’s journey over the past decade. He also welcomed delegates from the , representing countries including Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. He noted that hosting the FADMA Annual General Meeting in India further strengthens global collaboration within the tooling industry.
Introduced by TAGMA India in 1998, the Die & Mould India Exhibition series has evolved into the country’s largest platform for the tooling sector. The exhibition spans a wide range of products and services, including dies and moulds, press tools, CAD/CAM solutions, additive manufacturing, CNC machining centres, EDM, and precision measurement systems. It offers participants opportunities to explore business prospects, witness live demonstrations, and stay aligned with global technological trends.
The previous edition in 2024 saw participation from over 300 exhibitors across 15 countries and attracted more than 38,000 visitors. With strong international participation and multiple product launches, the exhibition reinforced its position as a key platform driving innovation and growth in India’s tooling industry.
